Dancing Fountains
I could not find or shoot any pictures of the
Dancing Fountains in front of the Bellagio Hotel
that could give you even the slightest inkling of
what this experience is like. It always gives me
ripples of goosebumps. The waters dance in columns
hundreds of feet high and drop back down with a
crashing boom that echoes up and down the strip.
The sound system is spectacular- and loud enough to
compete against the noise of the busiest corner on
the strip. - and the fountains weave perfectly in
sprays, spouts and jets of intricate rythmic
symmetry.
If you want to splurge, have dinner at the Paris
Hotel balcony restaurant right across the street. A
leisurely supper will afford you time to see a few
renditions, as each show is different.
A
short video of the fountains in action can be
found on the official Bellagio website.
Aliens circle the Luxor
Yep, they are out there. No, we aren't
referring to the occasional sports car that takes a
header off one of the on ramps of the spaghetti
bowl -or the Unknown Follicular Objects you see
strolling down the Strip. We are talking about the
'What the Heck are those?!' sightings of
the Mysterious Objects that dance hundreds of feet
over Luxor's Pyramid. These Objects
occasionally flash through and around the most
powerful light beam on earth. We have seen these
objects from 3 miles away- dancing at a minimum of
1,000 feet from the ground.
When you go into the Luxor to report that
'They' are playing in the beam again, all
you get from management is a stupefied look. Sort
of like the look you get from a five year old when
you ask what happened to the last three cookies in
the jar. For some reason UFO's are not a
popular subject with the corporate owners of the
newer hotspots.
If you are traveling in Vegas for the first
time- the Luxor light can serve as a homing beacon
to finding your way around. At 40-billion
candlepower it is visible at cruising altitude from
Los Angeles. At ten miles into space, you could
read a newspaper by its light.
